Most recently, helped Palm develop and distribute the first version of the Palm OS for the web for easy downloads and upgrades for Japan and Europe, including mirror sites. Reviewed Palm's user interface for next generation's handhelds and conducted customers survey on User Interface and Human-Computer Interaction Design. Program manager for the first Italian version of Palm V, which won best design award in Italy. The Palm handheld is now permanently exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Managed Palm teams as well as Palm external developers and vendors and developed a successful multilingual release of the latest Palm V and Palm III x products. As a result, Palm was able to ship multiple versions ahead of schedule and at the same time the US version. This was the very first time that Palm attempted and succeeded to concurrently develop a product for multiple locales. Successfully completed the Kanji, German, French and Spanish releases of PALM PILOT 2.0 Professional edition and the main European versions of Palm 1MB Upgrade products on schedule. Developed Int'l features and product specifications for the localized versions of PILOT 2.0 Professional. Implemented the localization of PALM PILOT 1.0 product for the German market. The project included a study of existing processes, and their evolution, which required an employee survey at the headquarters in Cupertino California and Apple Cork, Ireland, and an analysis of the interdependencies of the various groups involved in Localization. TGP completed a detailed description of issues in existing International Software cycles, designed an action plan to solve existing problems and a strategy to implement a cost-effective Localization process for all languages Apple supports. Macromedia, San Francisco, San Mateo California and Dallas Texas DivisionManaged several Macromedia projects, including an analysis of Macromedia internal product development cycles to identify areas to be improved. The goal was to reduce the gap between ship dates of US products and ship dates of localized products (European and Asian languages). The study covered several product groups and departments (marketing, engineering, documentation, worldwide sales, technical support, manufacturing, subsidiaries, and localization groups both in San Francisco, San Mateo and Texas). TGP has analyzed Winnovs existing applications and evaluated the level of built-in international support for Japanese. TGP has developed an Intl Software Checklist to identify problems and recommend solutions. TGP has customized on-site technical training for Winnov engineering and testing groups, that have learnt how to architect internationalization in the base products. The seminars goal was to present Internationalization issues when developing Software for an Intl audience, and techniques on how to avoid common Software development mistakes, especially when developing software for double-byte languages. The Organization has learnt how to utilize the International support built into Windows/NT environment, and build world-ready Software from the very start, thus reducing the risk of building product features that cannot be localized for other markets. Verity Inc., Sunnyvale, CaliforniaInternationalization Product Marketing ManagerSuccessfully developed first localized Verity product (including SW, Documentation and Packaging) TOPIC v.3 in less than 3 months from date of hire. Shipped on schedule. Prior to this, the company had never shipped any localized product. TOPIC v.3 was very critical to Verity French and Canadian offices: Verity was losing sales because they didn't have a localized product. Developed benchmarks and analysis criteria for evaluating Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology to augment Verity full-text retrieval engine with linguistic capability such as automatic noun phrase detection. Helped Engineering team develop a prototype that implemented NLP features for Verity search engine pre- and post processors for European languages, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Developed German localization of TOPIC v.3 (including SW, Documentation, Packaging and Purchase and Maintenance agreements) to penetrate Germany, a new market for Verity and the largest.
